The Portuguese-Brazilian soprano Anna Beatriz Gomes is currently shaping the 2025/2026 season with her portrayal of Anne Frank in Grigori Frid’s monodrama The Diary of Anne Frank at Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn (TOBS), Switzerland, followed by a contrasting role as Eurydice in Jacques Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld at Theatro São Pedro in São Paulo, Brazil.
In the upcoming 2026/2027 season, she will perform Maria in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story at the Opernfestspiele am Saarpolygon and will participate in the world premiere of a new opera in Switzerland.
Previously, in the 2024/2025 season, she appeared in the revival of her portrayal of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady at the Aalto-Musiktheater Essen. During the previous season (2023/2024), she performed the same role there and also sang the title role Heidi in the world premiere of Fabian Müller’s Heidi Celebrates Christmas as well as First Amourette in the opera Ulysses, both at Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn (TOBS).
Anna Beatriz Gomes is a former member of the Bern/Biel Opera Studio and holds a Master’s degree in Specialized Music Performance Opera from the Bern University of the Arts.
In 2022, she won the Young Artist Competition of the Trentino Music Festival in Italy, where she performed Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute and made her debut as Virtù in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea. Further engagements included Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute and Adele in Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus at the Berlin Opera Academy.
During the 2019 and 2020 seasons, she appeared as soloist in over one hundred concerts with the Bachiana Philharmonic Orchestra in São Paulo under the artistic direction of pianist and conductor João Carlos Martins.
She made her operatic debut in 2018 as Feu in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Santa Catarina Music Festival. In 2017, she sang Catalina in the world premiere of Ricardo Llorca’s zarzuela Tres Sombreros de Copa at Teatro Sérgio Cardoso in São Paulo.
Her operatic path began at the age of 18 at the Opera Studio of Theatro São Pedro in São Paulo, performing Emmie in Britten’s Albert Herring, Ernestine in Offenbach’s Monsieur Choufleuri, Barbarina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Papagena in The Magic Flute and Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. The production of Albert Herring was subsequently invited to the Winter Festival of Campos do Jordão.
